dun really consider myself as a "true" musician... maybe can consider half a musician lah.. hahaha.. cos was reading an article on yahoo.. "Are solo artistes at a disadvantage in S’pore?" (not going to touch on this topic).. and some points mentioned struck me.. not really struck lah.. just can feel the same way n agree.. tot i wanna share it here..

used to be quite apathetic abt politics... but this year.. heard n seen infos online n from friends.. n today i actually went to a pap rally.. (wanted to go to NSP rally.. but theres a last min change of plan..).. to see what have they got to say...
i would say... i am rather disappointed... they talked abt the same issue over and over.. and not addressing the real issue/problems on hand.. not answering the questions the opp asked.. so disappointing..
guess most prob will be attending some more rallies this few days.. hahaaa..

for those who dun care.. or dunno what is happening? please go see and listen b4 voting.. be responsible eh..
well.. all i can say is.. vote for the singapore... not for the party..

A heartbreaking story on the cover of the newspaper had everyone talking. A groom was found dead hours after his wedding dinner. One of his friends said: “He was a very cheerful person and had just gotten married. Nobody could believe he was dead just hours after celebrating his wedding.”

Life is truly uncertain. Everyone is just a heartbeat away from eternity. First Chronicles 29:15 states: “Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace.” It usually takes sad news, however, to drive home the reality of our frailty.

James 4:13 warns against speaking arrogantly about our future. We’re too limited to even understand what lies ahead, let alone take charge of it. We’re not the master of our own destiny, for we don’t even know what tomorrow will bring (James 4:14). We’re like a mist. Our lives are so short—here today, gone tomorrow.

How should we live in light of these truths? We should learn to embrace God’s plan for us (James 4:15) and do all the good we can (James 4:17).

We embrace God’s plan by acknowledging His sovereign rule over us. We say, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that” (James 4:15). We don’t make plans and then simply ask God to bless them. Instead, we should include God in every decision because He is over all of life.

Elisabeth Elliot observed, “God is God. Because He is God, He is worthy of my trust and obedience. I will find rest nowhere but in His holy will, a will that is unspeakably beyond my largest notions of what He is up to.”

Next, we should do the good we can. As God’s Word has instructed us in good works, we must be faithful in doing them. That makes for a God-honoring today and tomorrow.

Our Daily Journey : Heard

Read : Daniel 10:1-12
Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven (v.12).

Eight years ago, I came to a point of crisis in my prayer life. We had lost two teenagers who were very involved in our youth ministry, watched our pastor face serious health issues, and traveled a difficult road in our marriage because of all the ministry stress we were facing. Joining my husband in praying with a family during a hospital visit, I was ready to see God move. When I later found out that the little girl had died despite our prayers, turmoil ensued. “Why bother praying?” I said. My husband, facing his own questions, had this answer: “Because God says so.”

Telling them of the widow and the unjust judge (Luke 18:1-8), Jesus admonished His disciples to be persistent in prayer. Interestingly enough, He ends His lesson by saying, “But when the Son of Man, returns, how many will He find who have faith?” (v.8). Countless times I have allowed the outcome to determine my level of faith, rather than letting my faith lead me to a deeper understanding of prayer.

Unable to escape circumstances, we allow them to blind us, and—subsequently—we lose sight of the battle. Daniel, however, submitted to God’s will. In doing so, he refused to be moved from his declaration of faith in the power of God. He knew God would answer (Daniel 10:12-19). In 2 Corinthians 5:7 we read, “We live by believing and not by seeing.” Imagine the turn of events if Daniel had given up when the answer was delayed!

The enemy wants to keep us focused on self and distracted from the battle. While unconfessed sin and unforgiveness keeps our prayers from being heard (Isaiah 59:2; Matthew 6:15), we can know God hears when we submit to His will and remain immovable in our faith (1 John 5:14-15).

More : Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus (1 Thess. 5:17-18).

like to share that recently i started my "quiet time" on the journey to work.. thou it is not that quiet.. haa.. but God is really "speaking" !! =D just as i am having faith problem.. i read this..

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see...." Hebrews 11:1-12(read on)
it doesn't stop there.. the message goes on..

knowledge isn’t enough

The preacher asked his audience whether they believed he had a $20 bill in his closed hand. After a woman said that she believed he did, the speaker announced that he would destroy her faith by opening his hand and showing the money. “Now that you know I have a $20 bill,” he said, “you can no longer have faith that I do.”

If the preacher is correct, then the return of Christ will destroy the faith of His followers, for our faith will now be sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). And Jesus would not have told Thomas, “You believe because you have seen Me” (John 20:29), but rather “Because you have seen Me, you are no longer able to believe.”

The preacher mistakenly thought that empirical proof destroys faith. Instead, proof strengthens faith by eliminating the uncertainty that often accompanies it (Hebrews 11:1). Firsthand evidence confirms our knowledge, which bolsters our faith.

Faith is not the opposite of knowledge. Faith actually rests on knowledge. The more we know, the more we’re able to believe. Knowledge itself is not sufficient for faith, for even demons believe and tremble (James 2:19), but it’s impossible to have faith without it.

Like the pilot of a hang glider who leaps off a cliff and trusts his survival to the sturdy construction of his glider and the principles of aerodynamics, we have faith only when we put our full trust in the promises of God.

Knowledge isn’t enough. I may understand how hang gliding works and yet refuse to jump. But I won’t take the leap of faith unless I know that hang gliding is a reliable sport. Likewise, I may know the promises of God and still not believe them. But it’s impossible to believe them if I don’t first know them. Want stronger faith? Start by getting to know God.

praise the Lord for always providing.. and always planning ahead...

when is your happiest moment?
to date.. my happiest moment would be when James started to walk!
for those who dunno.. my brother is born with joints (bones, nerves) problems.. he only can bend his knees, elbows n wrist to a certain degree.. had operations since he was young.. remembered at the time.. even doctors are not sure if he could walk.. it was really a miraculous moment when he took his first step when he was a few years old.. n i was there! =)

James just finish another operation on the knee in December.. last wk the cast was taken out.. n a few days ago.. he walked a few steps! =D he actually have MC for 2 more wks.. but my mum decided that he should go to sch..
thank God everything went smoothly! there are friends to help him with the wheelchair, accompanying him back home =) n he could stand a walk a little to the toilet at sch.
he will be going for therapy session tmr.. n thank God again! that i'm free to accompany him to go.. or else mi mum won't be able to handle him alone (dad have to work).. he is getting quite heavy.. haa
if i have to start work already, then i won't be able to go!... God really have his time.. =P

n one more thing.. since the preparation work of the cafe started, my $$ status seem to be decreasing quite rapidly.. jus when i think i'm gonna be broke soon, there r always unexpected outside source of income here n there.. thank God for the provision =)

a little worried.. a little excited.. cos we are newbies in this industry..

i actually dun really like to perform or u can even say work on "important" days.. like to celebrate it simple.. but it seems like i always landed up performing (n will be working).. that's life.. haa.. things change, opinion change.. i guess i will have to change the mindset.. =P

later tonight, will be the first time i'm performing with co instruments.. n we only had 1 rehearsal! hahaa .. abit scary for me but kinda interesting experience.. 还好mi is only playing the accompaniment.. =P
after that will rush over to church for deco for wenjie's wedding tmr! will be a long day tmr!! haa
happy for him.. =)

Let’s consider a couple of hit songs from country singer Carrie Underwood. In “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” she sings about a young mother whose car is sliding on an icy road, and just as she is about to crash she cries out for Jesus to save her. “Jesus, take the wheel,” she sings, “take it from my hands ’cause I can’t do this on my own.”

In “Before He Cheats,” Underwood sings the lyrics of a scorned woman and what she did to her unfaithful boyfriend. While he was off romancing another woman, she was demolishing his car, slashing its tires and leather seats, scratching the paint on its doors, and smashing its headlights with a baseball bat. “Maybe next time,” she sings, “he’ll think before he cheats.”

Both songs resonate with people. Who hasn’t cried out to God in desperation, and who hasn’t plotted revenge on those who have hurt us? And yet it seems that we want to have it both ways. Why do we sing “Jesus, take the wheel” but not “Jesus, take the bat”?

We are too much like Jonah. He begged God to take the wheel of his life when he was swallowed by a huge fish (2:1), but he also wanted to hold on to the bat and take a few swings at his enemies in Nineveh. When they repented and God relented, Jonah angrily complained to God, “Didn’t I say before I left home that You would do this, Lord? . . . You are eager to turn back from destroying people. Just kill me now, Lord!” (Jonah 4:2-3).

Likewise, we want God’s help, but on our terms. We want God to forgive and rescue us, but we reserve the right to “smash the headlights” of those who have sinned against us.

God won’t be played. If you have given Him the wheel of your life, hand over the bat.

What is the difference between standing up for yourself and sinfully seeking vengeance? How can you tell if you’re fighting for justice or simply being selfish?

Macau Hk Trip (part 2)

hey.. yeh i know i'm taking too long to update this... hahaha..
but anyway, other then sight seeing.. the other main purpose of the trip.. is eating!
we actually have a list of must try food from samuel n mi sis !
of cos we didn't try all of them.. in fact we missed alot of them.. haaa

went to hunt for this 大利來記咖啡室 for their pork bun.. was told that the fresh baked bun will be out of the oven at 3pm.. better to be there early to queue for it..
we stop at the wrong bus stop again! n searched for it for a while...
reached at ard 230 or so.. for a tues afternoon, it was v crowded already!

maybe i dun like chewy buns.. the pork is nice thou..

after that we went searching for dessert- durian ice-cream, which is on the list..
ordered durian ice-cream n a mango pudding.. v nice! it was too good that we forgot to take picture of it... hahaaa

other then the food on the list.. we couldn't resist the curry-mix-"vegetable" (including yu dan n pork skin) which can be found in macau too!... actually the macau curry-mix seems more hygienic then in hk.. becos we chose the vegetables from a fridge (like the ice-cream fridge in sg).. yeh.. that's y it became our dinner for one of the days..

Macau Hk Trip (part 1)

overall it was a nice n "exciting" trip.. gd to get away from sg for a while =)
we call ourselves the recce team! haaa..
cos we are the first of the 3 "team" to go... =D
now the 2nd team is back.. the 3rd team is at macau now!! hohoho..
next time we should juz go together lah.. haa

stayed at Ole London hotel at macau.. i think for a 2 star hotel, it was great! free internet! clean rm, quite gd location.. n cheap =) but we took some time to look for the hotel thou.. -_-! i think the internet should have more detailed info on how to walk to the hotel from the bus stop! haa

here goes, take bus 26 from the airport.. (or 3A from the ferry terminal).. the journey is about 30mins plus minus.. stop at Yuet Tung Peir (take note of Macau Masters Hotel on the left) after alighting.. do not go straight! turn 180deg... and cross the nearest zebra crossing.. u will see a playground/park at the opposite side.. Ole London is just at the end of the stretch of houses/building! =DDDD

the hotel is 5mins walk away from Macau's historic Senado Square..

after liu yue er chuan dao 's sharing about the situation in Afghanistan today...
reminded me of how fortunate we are living in Singapore..
we can eat whatever we want.. or chose to not to eat even.. almost do whatever we want.. etc etc.. n yet complain abt the tiniest things/situation..
ppl in afghanistan or poor countries ard the area dun even see hope in living.. n yet some of us are living a mess... haiz...
we ought to be thankful..

thou the sound system for the first day screw up big time... the sound was sooo not balance.. either the vocals too loud.. or drums too loud.. etc etc.. soda green sang halfway.. the system went "blank".. dunno short circuit or what.. waited for too long for jacky cheung (cos setting up sound system again) n left early.. abit disappointed lah.. but on the whole the artistes were great =P
i am not very into soda green, but surprisingly they impressed me most.. =)
ah mei was great! again but the sound was letting her down.. n ya.. i missed jacky =(.. i was told n saw his rocker style thou.. soo cool! i tot most ppl would be kinda disappointed to see him as a rocker cos he is known for his ballads? but i like it! hee

Perfect Suffering (Our Daily Journey)

Prosperity preachers don’t last long in countries where there is persecution. They usually just leave.” That quote by Ajith Fernando from his book The Call to Joy and Pain captures two realities of the Christian faith: (1) Jesus suffered; (2) those who believe in Him will suffer too.

Unlike “health and wealth” false teachers, Jesus taught that suffering was something God uses for our good. In Hebrews 2:10, the writer states that Jesus became “through His suffering, a perfect leader.” This doesn’t mean that Jesus wasn’t already perfect, for He is God the Son. It does point out, however, that death allowed Him to intimately know the final stage of human experience—giving Him an even more perfect ability to identify with our struggles (5:8).

The apostle Paul experienced the perfecting process of pain. He prayed three times for God to remove something that was tormenting him. But God allowed it to persist, saying, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Paul’s response? “That’s why I take pleasure in . . . [suffering] for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (v.10).

Jesus is able to identify with us and help us because of the hardships He endured. “Since He Himself has gone through suffering and testing, He is able to help us when we are being tested” (Hebrews 2:18). He “understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do” (4:15).

Are you experiencing suffering? Don’t fight against it as one who has no hope. Don’t believe the lies of false teachers who wrongly say, “You simply need more faith to overcome your struggles.”

Instead, embrace your suffering as a gift from God—being used to perfect you and your faith in Him (12:2).

What is God teaching you through your suffering? How can you experience joy and victory even as you’re going through hard times?

"should i should i not?" n actually have v bad temper at home.. (pray to God that i can control my temper more at home..)haiz... ok.. maybe they are not the kind that opposed strongly, out loud kind.. but i can always feel the.. tension.. when we at a some topics or arguments..

anyway.. be thankful if u have a supportive family..

70年代後期以民歌歌手的身分進入演藝圈。初出道時蔡琴被社會大眾認為其外貌並不出色，但是她的嗓音低沉溫柔，極具有特色。曾經演唱《讀你》、《恰似你的溫柔》、《最後一夜》、《你的眼神》等歌曲都曾風靡一時，而有「絲絨歌后」之美稱。

"googled" abt it n it says 草莓族 is those born after 1981 (including 81).. which means i'm in it also.. hahahaaa i think the group should be categorise a few years later ba! -_-!!
well.. just hope that "they" (or everybody!) can treasure what they have.. n not take it for granted eh... yeh. it's a lesson for me too..

Sometimes we are overwhelmed by life. The crushing waves of disappointment, endless debt, debilitating illness, or trouble with people can cause hopelessness, depression, or despair. It happened to Jesus’ disciples. And it has happened to me.

Three statements by the Lord beginning with the words “It is . . .” offer us comfort, reassurance, and hope that Jesus is enough. The first is in Matthew 4 and is repeated three times: “It is written” (vv.4,7,10). In responding to the three temptations of Satan, Jesus gave us proof enough that the Word of God is true and overcomes the most powerful forms of temptation and pressure.

The second statement, “It is I” (Matt. 14:27), was spoken when Jesus told His terrified disciples that He Himself was presence enough to stop the howling storm and calm the raging seas.

Jesus spoke the third “It is” from the cross: “It is finished!” (John 19:30). He assured us that His death was provision enough to pay the debt for our sins and set us free.

Whatever our circumstances, Jesus is present with His love, compassion, and grace. He is proof, presence, and provision enough to carry us safely through. — David C. Egner

been a while since the last update.. anyway, dun need to consider to buy a mac liao! cos sis bought a pc! (at discounted price, trading in old pc) big big monitor!
maybe at least dun have to consider for a few years already.. but Mac is still my Fav! keke~ eh.. guess i have to pay her some money after having more stable income...

the weekend was.. tiring.. n.. fun! in some ways.. haa
friday - after the "stuggling to keep myself awake" work.. went over to echo for dinner and prac with S n S.. after which! spontaneously went to C-Nai Cafe to support caleb, simon n meilian.. had an enjoyable chatting session n the first intro to caleb's gal.. keke~
reached home ard 3am i think... n i tot.. "tmr die le.. long day to go..."

sat - was abit late for lesson.. =''= thank God some of mi students can't make it for that day.. so i only had 2 lesson! haa.. had a quick lunch n headed down to echo chinatown for the official opening.. oya.. thanks Sean! for helping to drive the flowers over.. n Siling for holding the flowers in the car! =P it was another random chat session.. walked ard n talk (ok maybe i listen more) with echo peeps, gd to see kewei again, ginny n some familiar faces! Congrats to simon, denis n nic for the successful opening! To God be the Glory! =D
come to think of it.. i'm already with echo for ard 4 years or so.. time files! it was great learning experience from handling people relationships, to teaching n even performing. =P

I've been doing daily bread for quite some time with "Our Daily Journey"
think it's really helpful... one of the interesting article read last week to share...

Read - Titus 2:11-14
¹¹For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. ¹²It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, ¹³while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, ¹⁴who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Martin Luther wanted to quit. His congregation in Wittenberg, having learned that Luther's gospel promised forgiveness for any and all sin, had stopped attending services and giving to the ministry and had started indulging in greed, lust, and booze. A frustrated Luther threatened to go on strike if they didn't change their ways. He declared, "You absolutely unthankful beasts, unworthy of the gospel; if you do not repent, i will stop preaching to you." They did not and so he did, taking several months off from being " the shepherd of such pigs."
Like the Luthers in Wittenberg, many of us may have though (early in our Christian career) : If God forgives us no matter what we do, then ultimately does not matter what we do. Salvation is a blank check. We can sin as much as we want, for it's all covered!
Surprisingly, Paul tells Titus that rather than encourage sin, the grace of God actually instructs us "to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures" (Titus 2:12).
The Heidelberg Catechism explains that only when I realise "how great my sin and misery are" can I understand "how I may be delivered from all my sins and misery," which then leads me "to express my gratitude to God for such deliverance."
So here is the Calculus. Understanding the extent of my sin enables me to appreciate grace, which automatically fills me with gratitude, which always looks for ways to say thank you. It looks like this: Sin--> Grace--> Gratitude--> Good Works.
If your love for God is waning and your will to obey is lacking, the answer is not to grit your teeth and try harder. Instead, work the formula. Start with a realization of the depths of your sin. Only then will you appreciate your need for grace. And gratitude and obedience will surely follow. --- Mike Wittmer

actually watched this clip b4 sometime ago.. and i could not totally agree with the point he mentioned.
eg: "if u live ur life the right way, the karma will take care of itself. the dreams will come to you."
agree that we should live our life the right way, but i think sometimes the dreams that you want might not come to you.. not saying that we should not dream of cos... i mean.. we should work hard for what we dream for but when the outcome is not what you wanted.. we should learn to embrace it... keeping in mind the fact that the outcome might not be a bad outcome... it might even be better then what u wanted..
after i watched the clip again this time.. realise that on the other hand.. Dr Randy did accept the fact that he is going to die.. (sorry to know he passed away) knowing that some things in life is unpredictable (there might be a higher being out there)... but we can chose to have the right mindset.. positive mindset.. having patience, humility, work and play well with others, etc..

kinda late to update this.. cos it was 2 wks ago already! haa
anyway.. it was a great concert!.. cheer's "emoness" is very de influential..
well, but the "consciousness" of the person beside me.. (yeh u guessed it) kinda spoils the mood a little.. haa..
maybe also becos we were not sitting at the front seats like the last cheer's concert we attended.. the music was not loud eunf for me! keke~
of cos there are still many moments of the concert that got me memorized....

i actually dun quite understand what she meant by saying下个星期去英国 is a song about friendship at the 签唱会.. cos the song sound kinda sad to me.. and u know.. typical friendship songs should sound happy.. =''= she explains it at the concert..
